Filters & Pumps

Filters & Pumps Pool filtration and proper water flow are two key elements to keeping crystal clear pool water. Regardless if you keep the water chemistry in line, if you don't have proper filtration or don't circulate/filter your pool long enough (general rule of thumb is 8 hours a day) than no amount of chemicals can compensate for improper filtration. Filtration/circulation accounts for 60% of cloudy water issues in a pool.

Pool Filtration

Pool Filters

Types of filtration for swimming pools are either sand, diatomaceous earth (DE) or cartridge. Sand filters have had widespread praise mainly from the fact that filter cleaning is all in the turn of a handle. Some people really want sparkling water by filtering out the smallest of particulate. DE filters will do this but requires more maintenance (and also has more moving parts). The last choice are cartridge filters which are easier to maintain than DE but, as with DE, they will need to be chemically treated at least once a year to ensure proper filtration

Pool Pumps

Pool Filters

Pool pumps are an integral part of pool circulation. If you don't turn the pool over once or turn over the pool too many times in the day you'll either have filtration issues or excessive electricity usage.
